If you took out HP or PCP car finance between 2007 and 2021, your lender may have charged you a hidden commission — without your knowledge or consent. You could be owed thousands.
Following Johnson v Firstrand & Hopcraft v Close Brothers, the court confirmed that undisclosed discretionary commissions on motor finance agreements were unlawful. The FCA estimates millions of consumers were affected across all major UK lenders.

No upfront fees. No obligation. CareQuest Management Ltd — Co. No. 17223044. Not FCA authorised. Administrative service only.
Between 2007 and 2021, most UK car dealers were paid a commission by your lender every time they arranged finance for a customer. The commission was often discretionary — meaning the dealer could set your interest rate higher to earn more money. You were never told this was happening.
Courts have confirmed this arrangement was unlawful when the commission was not disclosed to the consumer. The lender had a conflict of interest and failed to disclose it — giving you the right to claim back the excess charges and interest.
Not listed? Most UK car finance lenders operated DCM to some degree. If your lender isn't listed, we will still check your agreement — the commission may still be recoverable.
You don't need to have complained before, kept your paperwork, or even remember the lender's name. We retrieve everything through the DSAR process.
You financed a car through hire purchase or personal contract purchase through a dealer or direct lender between 2007 and 2021.
Your agreement was entered into between January 2007 and January 2021, when the FCA banned discretionary commission models.
You paid interest on your finance agreement. Even if the car is now paid off, the claim relates to what you were charged at the time.
You do not need to have complained before. The claim window is open to anyone affected, whether or not they previously knew about the commission.
You don't need your original agreement. We submit a DSAR to retrieve your complete file from the lender — at no cost to you.
Had more than one financed vehicle in the period? Each agreement is a separate potential claim — each with its own estimated compensation.
